Bottle blackening is a wine marketing innovation and brilliant way to reduce costs and drive sales. Blackening is like a "trompe l' oeil" painting, it fools the eye into believing the bottle is actually full of wine. The process is done by adding a very dense black paint to the inside of the bottles thereby giving the illusion of it being full of wine. The bottle can be etched or screen printed with your winery logo and shipped for a fraction of the cost as the bottles are far lighter in weight.
